So, if you have read my introduction, or my other blogs, then you know I am expecting a baby! 👶 I am due in January, so it is coming up really fast!! As I have been starting to get things prepared I thought it would be a good idea to write about some of the things that have helped me organize the nursery and create enough room for everything.

Some of these tips I have received from my sisters who already have kids, some I have seen online, and some I have just thought of trying out.

#1 Use a shoe organizer on the back of the door for small items like socks, shoes, hats, etc. This is a cheap and easy organization hack. I found one at Walmart for $4.98. You can also roll up small blankets and use this to store them and keep them organized. Another idea for this is to keep full sets of outfits in each pocket (onesie, socks, pants, jacket, shoes, etc).

#2 Use stack-able crates in the closet for more shelving space and easy to organize baby clothing sizes. I found black ones at Walmart for $3.98 each. I could not find a picture of the exact crates, but they are similar to these blue ones. These can also be used to separate wipes and diapers. Books and toys can also be stored in here.

#3 Ways to fold clothes. Roll pants and Stack onesies up. (pictures for examples) When organizing baby pants, roll them instead of fold them. This way you are able to see all of the pants in the drawer instead of having them folded and stacked. When they are stacked it is

hard to find the pair that you are looking for and you have to try to pull them out without ruining all of the other nicely folded pants. Same goes for the onesies. If you fold them and stack them up, you can see the front of the onesie so you know which one you are looking for without having to dig through stacks. (I actually do this with mine and my husband's shirts too).

#4 Use the wasted space under the crib. Get the long skinny storage bins. Fill them with blankets, different sized clothing, books, etc. The main thing I have found that I need in the babies room is places to store the things that we will not be using right away.

#5 If possible, leave the whole room dedicated to the baby. This is something that was hard for us at first because we are in a 2 bedroom apartment and we have a LOT of stuff. We had to find other ways to store things so that we could give our baby as much room as possible. This has made it so much easier for us to keep baby things organized. Organization is key right now because I am sure when I have the baby it will be harder to create organizational systems. So I decided the sooner I can get it down, the easier it will be when he actually arrives.

#6 LABEL🏷 , LABEL🏷 , LABEL🏷!!! Label all of the boxes of clothing by size and type if applicable. Label each box with what is inside (ex- toys, books, decoration, memorabilia, blankets, etc.)

#7 Start a baby box NOW! I have already had so many things that I want to keep safe for my baby so he can have it in his future. An example of this are all of the ultrasounds that I get from my appointments. We also have pictures of our gender reveal I want to keep safe. He got letters from people from his baby shower that I would love to be able to keep for him. So I found it easier to start his baby memorabilia box now. A place to keep all of those things together so they do not get lost or misplaced because everything is in a different place.

#8 This is something that I have not had to experience yet, but my sisters have told me to make sure to look through the baby clothes because some clothes will fit sooner rather than later no matter what size they actually say they are. So if possible, go through each size of clothing and separate the ones that look a little smaller and the ones that look a little bigger so that you are able to see when your baby will actually start to fit into them. My sisters told me they missed out on being able to use some of the clothes because when their baby was actually 3 months old, some of the clothes fit more like newborns, so their baby was too big. So keep an eye on how the clothes are fitting your baby because all of the clothes will fit differently.

Like I mentioned, I haven't actually had my baby yet, so I could use all of the tips I could get. If you guys have any tips for nursery and other baby ideas, I would love to hear them. Also, let me know what you think of these tips either in the comments or through email: shantae.bennett17@gmail.com
